Du behöver inte läsa '1984'...

Som några gånger tidigare nämnt så förtjänar Johan Norbergs bloggserie You don't have to read Atlas Shrugged, just follow the news ett oändligt mycket bättre öde än sotdöden, men det är också andra böcker som är ständigt obehagligt närvarande:

Från CNSNews, via Dick Puddlecote:

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told members of the National Restaurant Association on Monday that Americans need to “adjust” their tastes so that they like the kind of food the government believes they should eat—and “we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.”

Ur Wikipedias artikel om Outer Party i '1984':

[The Outer Party] /.../ do not have the comforts of the Inner Party such as pleasant food, wine, cigarettes, coffee, tea, personal servants, convenient transportation, and more comfortable and spacious homes, as well as the right to turn their telescreens off. Outer Party members drink Victory Gin, as very little wine reaches them, and they have saccharine tablets instead of sugar

Vidare ur CNSNews-artikeln:

Vilsack mentioned visiting a Colorado school that was serving children brownies made with black beans. “The kids didn’t even know they were eating a healthier snack,” Vilsack said.

Ur '1984' - från Youtube:

"Did you know I don't think there's a single piece of meat in this stew? Looks like meat. Tastes like meat. Isn't meat at all. Doubleplusgood!"
