Byxmyndigheten

Från The Local:

Women in Paris can finally wear trousers without fear of criminal prosecution after the government said a more than 200-year-old ban no longer had any legal effect.

The municipal order required Parisian women to seek permission from local police if they wanted to "dress like a man" by wearing trousers.

It was modified in 1892 and 1909 to allow women to wear trousers if they were "holding a bicycle handlebar or the reins of a horse" but had officially remained on the books.

The city eventually rejected his claim. City officials told him that because his address was the one on the warrant, the police hadn't really made a mistake. Frustrated, Leonard gave up, and called the city's trash pickup to come get his old door. They never came. Instead, city code inspectors came to Leonard's house and fined him $50 for storing the old door that hte police had broken in his backyard while he waited for the city to come pick it up.

Late last month, Laverne Dobbinson received a letter, addressed to her son, from a law firm notifying him that it had been retained by the City of New York to collect money for damages to a police car.

If the letter, which demanded that he pay $710 within 10 days, was pro forma, the circumstances surrounding how the damage occurred were most certainly not.

The police car was damaged after a chase that ended when it collided with Ms. Dobbinson’s son, Tamon Robinson, denting the front of the car and killing him.

Who killed Bambi? Government.

Ge mig tusen dollar

Åh, det kanske behövs något sammanhang? Ur Indianapolis Star, via Overlawyered:

In 2010, Jeff found the deer on a police call. The animal appeared to have been attacked by a coyote. His wife, who had experience tending their horses and dogs, applied her skills to the deer. The fawn healed but grew slowly as the Councellers kept it in their care, in a pen, for nearly two years.

The couple said they intended to set the animal free last fall. But the [Indiana Department of Natural Resources] discovered it in their possession in June and ordered it killed.

[...]
The Councellers — Jeff is a cop, Jennifer is a nurse — face a March trial date on a charge of illegal possession of a deer, a misdemeanor that could mean 60 days in jail and fines of $500 each.
